The reliable place to extend is the Department of Immigration in Vientiane, on Nong Buek-Dongnaxok Road in Dongnaxok village, Sikhottabong district. Opening hours are Monday to Friday, 08:00 to 16:00, with a lunch closure between 12:00 and 13:00, and applications are generally not accepted on Friday afternoons. The other route is to leave and come back. Exit Laos at a land border, spend as little as an hour on the other side, and re-enter on a fresh visa on arrival for another 30 days.
